Highly experienced project finance and infrastructure banker with over 30 years of experience leading global advisory teams, and structuring debt & equity cross-border transactions.


Former Co-Head of the Real Assets and Structured Finance Group, Americas for HSBC based in New York, where he has worked since 2006 in various leadership roles. Led a professional team of 50 banking and advisory professionals offering structured finance solutions to clients across the Americas, with teams based in NY, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. Services included lending, advisory services (in both debt & M&A); ratings & structuring advice; renewables (tax equity, lending, acquisition financing, bridges, USPP); project, energy (O&G, RBL, power), offshore assets and infrastructure finance; capital call facilities; securitization; and trade finance.


His experience ranges across structuring and investing equity, mezzanine, and senior debt in the broader infrastructure sector, monitoring project delivery, as well as extensive public and private sector advisory. He was responsible for a $7 billion loan portfolio with associated risk management responsibilities.


Before HSBC, Duncan worked in London and New Zealand with CIT Bank, Bank of America, MUFG, and Westpac.
